I kind of like this quote from Robert Venturi’s Learning from Las Vegas book, here goes:
“When modern architects righteously abandoned ornament on buildings, they unconsciously designed buildings that were ornaments.” - Robert Venturi
I guess Adolf Loos’s vision and idea on ornament as a crime is no longer practical, in the sense that we the architects have somehow overlook his idea and philosophy. Learning from Las Vegas is really a good book, kind of interesting, his vision of the future and how should architecture performs to attract people.
